Delivering You Quality L-Shaped Loft Conversions in London
We’re With You Every Step of the Way!
An L-shaped loft conversion (or L-shaped dormer) is a type of loft conversion which involves the construction of a box (or dormer) in the shape of an L, and which is typically constructed on semi-detached or terraced properties. In fact, what’s more common is the construction of two adjoining dormers (one larger, and one slightly smaller) which then create the distinctive L shape.
They add space and light to properties, both of which tend to come at a premium in built-up urban areas. So, if you’ve been looking for an additional bedroom, office, or simply a place to relax away from the strains and stresses of modern everyday life, then an L-shaped loft conversion in London might just well be what you’re after.
The good news is that, in most cases, L-shaped loft conversions don’t require additional planning permissions, as they’re allowed under a property’s permitted developments. That’s provided they don’t exceed certain limitations (which can be found here). You will, however, be subject to building regulations approval, even if your proposed conversion falls within permitted developments. Building regulations cover several key areas, including:
The easiest way to make sure you don’t fall foul of any of these regulations is by using an experienced firm like ours. With over a decade’s worth of experience, we’re able to build you a high-quality conversion that passess building regulations with ease.
The most common type of L-shaped conversion is the L-shaped dormer, but it’s not the only one. You can also get what’s called an L-shaped mansard conversion. Mansards are similar to dormers, except that they’re external wall isn’t vertical, but rather sloped in slightly. Typically at an angle of 70 degrees or thereabouts.
Both L-shaped dormers and L-shaped mansards provide additional space, and both offer the opportunity for additional value when selling the property down the line. But which you choose is very much down to personal preference.
Besides our firm’s experience which we’ve already highlighted, we’re also firm believers in the importance of both communication and client experience. We know just how jarring and disruptive it can be to have builders in your home, particularly if it’s for a few weeks.
That’s why we work as efficiently as we can, updating you at every step of the way, so that you’re in the loop with everything that’s happening, and so that your home remains that sanctuary, even in the midst of construction.
